CERAMIC SURFACE TECHNOLOGY

Designed for the glass
on your solar panels.

CERACOAT CERAMIC™ SC is a water-based coating using titanium dioxide (TiO₂, anatase) and silicon dioxide (SiO₂).

Sunlight activates the photocatalytic surface, helping decompose organic contamination. The hydrophilic surface supports the removal of loosened dirt when rain reaches the panels.

LONG-LASTING SURFACE CARE

One application.
Up to 5 years of action.

CERACOAT is designed to remain active for up to 5 years. Reduced dirt build-up can significantly extend the intervals between manual cleaning visits.

Service life and cleaning intervals depend on application quality, rainfall, panel tilt and local contamination. Up to 5 years of coating activity does not mean a fixed 5-year cleaning interval.

THE CLEANING CYCLE

Three steps. One continuous effect.

01

Activate

Sunlight initiates the photocatalytic action of the coating. This helps break down organic deposits on the surface.

02

Spread

The super-hydrophilic surface encourages water to spread into a thin film instead of remaining as isolated droplets.

03

Rinse

Rainfall helps rinse away loosened contamination. The effect depends on rainfall, panel tilt and local soiling conditions.

What does “self-cleaning” mean?

The coating helps nature do more of the cleaning. It does not make a solar installation maintenance-free. Sites with little rainfall, persistent mineral deposits or heavy contamination may still need planned cleaning and inspection.

Can I coat panels already in service?

Yes. Clean used panels thoroughly first, then follow the application instructions. Discuss the module type and any manufacturer requirements with CERACOAT before application.

How long does activation take?

Sunlight dries the coating within approximately 24 hours and activates it within approximately two weeks. Weather and site conditions affect this process.

Is the coating applied like a polish?

No. Spray it evenly at a maximum of 20 ml/m². Do not spread, wipe or polish after spraying.
